Play dates and Horseshoe rentals
Sep 20 2009, 12:29 AM EDT | Post edited: Sep 20 2009, 12:29 AM EDT
If a date and time is chosen for getting together, post it and I will work my schedule around it.
Now Pete, Kathy and I (Team: Side by Side Ringers) are thinking of throwing a horseshoe party and or fundraiser. How do we work it with you to supply us with horseshoes? Some access to a group of shoes would help with people who would like to have parties and or events but not have to buy 10-20 pairs of shoes. Any thoughts on this?

Jim

Hi Jim, I purchased 12 pairs of horseshoes for the Sept. 12th tournament. 10 pairs of Cobra professional shoes, plus two pair of Glory GXL lightweight shoes (mainly for my small kids to use) plus I have another 6 pair of my own spare horseshoes that can be used if needed. Matt L. also has several pairs of shoes. I bought the Cobra's with the intention of lending them out for exactly what you're talking about. I haven't figured out a 'rental' price. Some donation to the club would be good that I could put into buying more horseshoes and equipment like pick-up tools and measureing tools. There are 16 total courts, 2 pair per court is a total of 32 pair. That's the max we'd need. Right now I've got enough to run 8 courts. Gino is going to start a Junior League with his kids so I'm going to buy several pairs of 'kids' horseshoes. We're still trying to figure out which ones. Glory GXL's, Wondershoes, or Pony? The regulation lightwt shoes are good for kids or anyone else that has trouble throwing a heavier horseshoe. Good to have on hand for picnic tournaments. Let me know what you think a fair rental donation would be. I figured if it was enough to be able to buy one more pair that'd be good. More money would allow us to buy a variety of 'demo' pro horseshoes for people to try out. The whole idea of being able to faciliate parties and tournaments with donations is to keep the club 'free' as much as possible. -Peter Z.

Sounds like enough shoes are available for the first outing I am planning, a men's Sat monrning breakfast group from my church. Kathy has some ideas as well. The donation idea works as some groups can afford more than others as long as some sort of donation is given it should work. The shoes don't do much good in a box (shoebox ;>)!

Sounds good Jim. What Saturday? Some of the shoes are going to be lent of for an elementary school picnic (not a GGPark) this Sunday and are being picked up tomorrow. Let me know if you mean THIS Saturday. We probably still have enough for you too. A few months ago we helped by providing horseshoes for a tournament for the Glad Tiding Church Men's club. Church groups are a perfect idea and we're glad to help out. I'd definitely rather have the shoes in use than sitting in a box and wouldn't want a suggested donation to inhibit anyone. We've recieved some donations so I expect that soon we'll be able to supply more than one group at a time. If Kathy has some other ideas, let's hear them. -Peter 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Our men's group is just starting up for the fall this week. Second Sat of the month is our breakfast dates. I will give you a heads up when we schedule the horseshoe event. How good it must feel to be part of the resurgence of horses as a past time. Thanks for all the work.
